Rock Types Blog Post

Rock cycle-

Rock cycle shows how rocks form. There are three types of rocks: Sedimentary rock, igneous rock, and metamorphic rock. Each type of rock can form to other rock. Igneous rock can turn into sedimentary rock. Sedimentary rock can turn into metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rock can turn into igneous rock. This is how the rock cycle work and why is call the rock cyacle.

Igneous rocks form from magma and lava. Magma and lava is from melted metamorphic rock. Magma and lava turns into rock by cooling and become igneous rock. This step is call solidification. Solidification means liquid turn into solid by cool temperature.

Then igneous rock will break down to many pieces. When weathering and erosion happen, the broken rocks will move to another place. The broken pieces of rocks are call sediments. When compaction and cementation happen, the sediments will get push together and glue together. And that is how sedimentary rocks form.

Sedimentary rock can turn into metamorphic rock. First, sedimentary rock gets heat by hot temperature. Then it got pressure, with mean get push.  So, metamorphic rock forms by heat and pressure. Also, metamorphic rock can turn to igneous rock. When metamorphic rock melts by hot temperature, it becomes magma or lava. Then magma or lava will become igneous rock.

The rock cycle show how rocks form and show that the relationships between igneous rock, sedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock. All the rock can form to other rock and form from other rock. For example metamorphic rock can form into igneous rock and form from sedimentary rock. The rock cycle is like a circle, the rock change all the time to other rock. But, to change to other rock might take a long time. Anyway, rock cycle is amazing and cool.

Rocks-
metamorphic rock-Rock form by pressure heat and pressure
magma-melted rock inside the volcano.
lava-melted rock outside the volcano.
solidification-liquid became solid by cooling.
Igneous rock-  form from cooling of magma .
weathering-break rock into small pieces by wind and water
erosion-bring rock to a new place
sediment-broken piece of rock.
compaction-push rock together
cementation-glued rocks together
sedimentary rock-rock that form from many piece of rock

Rock type-
Igneous intruive-inside volcano and have big crystal.
igneous extrusive-outside the volcano and have small crystals.
sedimentary-clastic-formed from little fragments that are glued together.
sedimentary-bioclastic-form from dead animal.
sedimentary-crystalline-fromed under water.
metamorphic-foliated-have layer.
metamorphic-non-foliated -don't have layer.
